Prodigy Wrestling Academy's philosophy on the level that a wrestler should compete at is a level where they are winning about 75-80% of their matches. Starting with local tournaments and novice level tournaments, working up into "OAC" and "Quest" open Wrestling tournaments, then onto OAC and OHWAY regional and State level tournaments. Once a wrestler can compete and handle the competition, they would start to wrestle in NUWAY or TYRANT national level tournaments, trying to keep a solid percentage of winning, along with learning from the losses.
They absolute highest level in youth wrestling are tournaments like WOW Tulsa Nationals. This is one of the pinnacles of Youth Wrestling. One of the toughest tournaments in the nation every year. Only wrestlers that can handle that kind of competition, mentally and physically, should take the challenge of competing. Prodigy's Rush Landis is definitely in this category. Rush competed in his first Tulsa Nationals this weekend, where he went 2-2 against the toughest competition in the US. Rush is jumping levels every time he gets on a mat and competition, and challenges, like this will continue to help him do so. Congrats on stepping on that line and pushing yourself to your absolute best, Rush. Keep grinding and working until you are on that Podium out in Tulsa!

Prodigy Wrestlers continue to impress as 6 more wrestlers qualifier for the OAC Grade School State Championship at the Logan Districts this weekend. Leading the way was Brody Kemplin, who would become the only District Champion at Logan, and the 6th district champion for Prodigy this season.
Five more Prodigy Wrestlers have made their way to state, qualifying by placing in the top 4 at their weights. State Qualifiers include AJ Gray (4th), Kolton Ross (2nd), Grant Livingston (4th), Tyler Elliott (4th), and Case Johnson (3rd). Also Competing for Prodigy were Mason King, Zach Ryan, and Ben Craig. We are proud of any of our wrestlers who step on the line to compete at the highest levels. Congrats to all and keep working to reach those goals! Not only did Prodigy show up on an individual level with 5 District Champions, 17 State Qualifiers, and 23 District Placers, the team did it in dominating fashion. Congrats to all 26 wrestlers that helped contribute to these team stats for the weekend. Team Prodigy led the field in the following categories at Lakota West: Most Pins Least Amount of Time: Most Total Match Points: Most Tech Falls in the Least Amount of Time: Most Pins AND Tech Falls in the Least Amount of Time:
Prodigy Wrestlers came out to compete at Lakota West on Saturday and they did not disappoint. In a dominating performance, Prodigy added 18 state qualifiers to the 3 that qualified in Marysville to make the Prodigy State Qualifier count jump to 21 so far.
Prodigy did not just get their first OAC Grade school District Champion of the season, they got their first FIVE district Champions! District Champions for Prodigy were Camden Hunter, Houston Adams, Davide Keirn, Garrett Plummer, and Layne Smith. These wrestlers went to work this weekend, not being denied what they have been training for. Time to train harder as the goal gets bigger! Twelve more wrestlers punched their ticket to the OAC Grade school state tournament by placing in the top 4 at Districts. Tytus Frahm (2nd), Kolby Williams (2nd), Adler Olberding (2nd), Korbin Downey (2nd), Ethan White (3rd), Parker White (3rd), Malachi Hundley (3rd), Brady Staggs (3rd), Oscar Horning (3rd), David Arens (4th), Kolby Pomeroy (4th), Owen Kairn (4th) and Vincent Black (4th) fought their way to podium, qualifying for the OAC State Tournament in March. Now we work to get on that podium at the end of the year. Prodigy had even more District Placers, with six wrestlers that placed 5th or 6th. These wrestlers are considered state alternates, should someone drop out. They can decide to try to qualify at another one of the upcoming districts. Seth Combs (5th), Magnus Rajala (5th), Jordan Wilkerson (5th), Mason King (6th), Zach Ryan (5th), and Jason Wilkerson (5th) wrestled a great tournament. I am so proud of these wrestlers for continuing to wrestle hard all the way the 5th and 6th place match. They gave everything they had and should be proud of how they competed. We are! Three more wrestlers competed but fell short of their goals...this time. These wrestlers came and competed with the best that Southwest (and many from other parts of the state) has to offer. They can hold their heads up because they stepped on the line and competed, when their are many wrestlers who never dare to do that. Getting out of your comfort zone and competing with top level competition is what will make you better over time. Foster Sanders (2-2), Seth Johnson (2-2), and Bentley Scott (0-2) did just that and we are so proud of you for it! Keep working and trust the process because your time will be here soon! I can't convey just how proud I am of each and every one of these wrestlers. Most importantly, I am proud of how each of these wrestlers represented themselves with class and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. They continue to become a TEAM each and every week! Congrats to all! Prodigy Wrestlers earned their first 3 OAC State Qualifiers this weekend at the Marysville District. Team Prodigy was led by Mason Wireman with his runner-up finish in Division 2. Mason was joined by Archer Cook, 3rd, and Roman Lowe, 4th. Every team needs leaders to get the ball rolling and they did that this weekend. Congratulations to our first 3 State Qualifiers this season!
3 Prodigy Wrestlers earned State Alternate status. Robert Holley (5th), Seth Combs (6th), and Case Johnston (5th) placed at the district. They will be alternates or they can attend another district to try to earn a state qualification. Four other wrestlers laid it on the line at the first district. They still have many opportunities to earn state qualifications at later districts. Tyler Elliott (2-2), Kolton Ross (1-2), Layne Smith (2-2), and Vincent Black (0-2). Keep working fellas! |
