The Prodigy Way

Prodigy Wrestling Academy strives to build wrestlers into champions. We teach advanced technique focused on preparing wrestlers for the next level of the sport regardless of their age and experience level.   Willie Wineberg, the only 4 time division I state champion from southwest Ohio, has built Prodigy into the best, most consistent, wrestling academy in the Dayton and Cincinnati area.  Using the knowledge acquired through a successful competitive career, spanning from youth to Fairfield high school to Purdue University, including both national and International competitions, Coach Wineberg teaches the technique and mindset needed for wrestlers to find success in wrestling and in life.  Prodigy prides itself on partnering with top notch coaches, youth clubs, and high school programs to help grow the sport of wrestling and to provide a neutral training environment that will help all local programs excel in meeting their goals.

Prodigy regards itself as an academy first, a school of wrestling that provides opportunities for every age and level of wrestler to learn the sport of wrestling, whether a beginner, an intermediate, or an advanced wrestler.  Our aim is to differentiate our training to meet the needs of our wrestlers.  Our focus is on development.  Our Training sessions utilize age and level appropriate intensity and technique, from repetitive basic skills and drills for beginners to college style workouts with cutting edge technique for advanced wrestlers.  Prodigy's staff is focused on the growth of your wrestlers.  Our systematic approach to the sport shows proven results.  Prodigy offers opportunities for wrestlers to learn folkstyle, freestyle, and greco-roman styles of wrestling at appropriate times of the year.  Prodigy's competitive schedule will offer suitable competition schedules for each wrestler in their development. Our aim is to continue to grow and develop your your wrestlers from local and state competitions all the way to national level competition.  Let us help take your wrestler to the next level.

Structure

Practices are structured to optimize learning and retention.  Every practice will include the five crucial components to preparing wrestlers:  warm-up, repetitive drilling, technique, live wrestling, and conditioning.  Prodigy has a very specific technical agenda that focuses on building a foundation that will help wrestlers find success for years to come.  This foundation will result in transitioning from one move to the next throughout a match, also known as chain wrestling.

A competitive schedule will be created to fit the needs of Prodigy wrestlers.  Coaches will attend various meets to coach and continue to stress the important technique and mindset taught during training sessions.  Coaches will attend many different levels of competition to help reach wrestlers at their level of maximum improvement and learning.

Wrestlers are taught wrestling at their developmental level.  Wrestlers are taught the best wrestling technique that is successful at every level and then those foundations are put together and added onto throughout their journey in order to reach their highest potential.  We strive to push each wrestler to their limits to help them grow as wrestlers and people.
