I make sure to tell everyone that I come across that the best thing I ever did was to bring Coach Jones and Team Jones Wrestling into the Prodigy Wrestling Academy family. Coach Jones has influenced many wrestlers' lives and has been the starting point for many great wrestlers in Southwest Ohio. Coach Jones takes on some tough challenges as he works to teach younger wrestlers to "Perfect the Basics". There is not a better coach to teach young wrestlers these foundational skills than Coach Don Jones! His love of wrestling doesn't stop there. He runs open mats and preseason training to wrestlers preparing for the season. He runs open mats throughout the summer giving wrestlers opportunities to reach their goals. He COMPETES still! Coach Jones was a runner-up at the US Nationals in his age division this past year. He also competes in local tournaments and even gave beach wrestling a try. He even is seen selling gear at tournaments on Saturday and Sunday! I think he is a great coach because he loves the sport so much! Coach Jones comes from a rich tradition of wrestling in Eastern Pennsylvania. His training and work ethic would lead him to All-American honors at Keystone Junior College and then to a Varsity Wrestler at East Stroudsburg University. We are lucky that he continues to bring this top level wrestling experience to Prodigy Wrestling Academy!
Coach Arens will continue to be a part of our staff this season with our Premier group. He will sharing coaching duties of this group with Coach Ryan. When I met Coach Arens, a few things made me realize he would be a great fit for coaching at Prodigy. First, his son, David, was tough AND very technical, almost like his dad had something to do with it :) The second thing I noticed was he was quiet. He knew that he could be effective and didn't need to be screaming at the wrestlers. Finally, after asking where he wrestled, he replied Lakota West. That would make him Scott Fetzer trained. Wrestlers who have wrestled for top notch coaches don't just learn wrestling, they learn what makes great coaches. That's all I needed last year before asking to help us at Prodigy! It's also nice having a younger coach who can still lace it up with the wrestlers. We are lucky to have him again this season! Welcome Back, Coach Arens! Wrestling Bio
